Aldo Salvador Valle Acevedo

Minister of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation, Chile. A lawyer by profession, he graduated from the University of Valparaíso and holds a Master's in Philosophy of Science with a concentration in Logic from the same institution. He has built a distinguished career in higher education and public policy. He served as Dean of the Faculty of Law from 2007 to 2008, and in 2008 became Rector (President) of the University of Valparaíso, a position he held for three consecutive terms (2008-2020). His tenure began in a challenging institutional context, and he successfully repositioned the University of Valparaíso as one of the most relevant state universities in the system. He has led key inter-institutional coordination bodies, including the Consortium of Chilean State Universities (CUECH), where he strongly advanced debate on the recovery of state universities and the reaffirmation of the concept of the public university, issues he began to promote in 2010. As Executive Vice President of the Council of Rectors of Chilean Universities (CRUCH), he was widely recognized for a conciliatory style, reflective capacity, and commitment to strengthening public education. He has also held public posts, including Head of the Legal Division of the Undersecretariat of Fisheries, and, more recently, Vice President of the Constitutional Council in 2023, from which role he contributed an institutionalist and dialogue-oriented perspective. Born in the commune of Tiltil, he has combined legal training with a strong vocation for institutional development and critical thinking regarding the role of the State in education.
