Hugo Ferrari

Argentine physicist. He earned a Licenciate in Physics from the Instituto Balseiro (Universidad de Cuyo, UnCuyo) in 1996 on a CNEA scholarship, and a PhD in Physics from the same institute in 2007 with the dissertation “Particle Dynamics and Current Sustainment in FRCs.” He has been a CONICET researcher since 2008. In 2009–2010 he completed a postdoctoral stay at the Laboratoire de Physique des Plasmas (Université Paris XI) under Dr. A. Cross, working on electron acceleration in laser–plasma systems. Since 2011 he has been a researcher at the National Atomic Energy Commission (CNEA) in the Nuclear Fusion and Plasma Physics Division (FNFP) at Centro Atómico Bariloche, which he currently heads. His current work focuses on how MHD instabilities and static perturbations (ripple and RMPs) affect energetic-ion distributions in plasmas; he develops and uses simulation codes on GPU clusters (CUDA C). He also teaches at the Instituto Balseiro (UnCuyo).
