Máximo Pacheco Matte


Chairman of the Board of the National Copper Corporation (CODELCO) since March 30, 2022. He holds a Commercial Engineer (Business and Economics) degree from the University of Chile. He was CODELCO's first Vice President of Operations after the return to democracy (1990-1994), Minister of Energy (2014-2016, President Michelle Bachelet's second term), and a board member of TVN (2018-2019). In the private sector, he was Executive Vice President for Latin America at Carter Holt Harvey and Senior Vice President at International Paper, serving as President for Latin America and later President for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Russia. He has sat on boards of private companies in Chile, Europe, Russia and New Zealand, and served on the boards of CEPI (Confederation of European Paper Industries) and AmCham Belgium, as well as Vice President of Bracelpa (Brazilian Pulp and Paper Association). In recent years he has been faculty at the School of Government, Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, a board member of the Municipal Theatre of Santiago and the Súmate Foundation, and a member of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Chile Council.
